The Natural History Museum in Los Angeles started to masterplan a 12-acre site at Hancock Park. Three architecture firms are currently competing to oversee the project. Which houses the La Brea Tar Pits and the George C. Page Museum.

Architecture firms Dorte Mandrup of Copenhagen, WEISS/MANFREDI of New York and Diller Scofidio + Renfro of New York were selected in March to develop a conceptual approach to the project. In addition, the architecture firms were asked to assemble teams landscape architects, but scientists, engineers, designers and artists for the project.

This is a long-term initiative that will begin with a creative masterplan outline. The museum will choose a firm later this year.
