MCR Adds Newark Hotel to Growing Portfolio
MCR, which is headquartered in New York City and Dallas, acquired the 150-room hotel located nearby the Prudential Center, a major entertainment venue and home to the New Jersey Devils, for an undisclosed price.
NEWARK, NJ—Hotelier MCR has added The Courtyard by Marriott Newark Downtown to its national portfolio of 86 hotel properties.
MCR, which is headquartered in New York City and Dallas, acquired the 150-room hotel located nearby the Prudential Center, a major entertainment venue and home to the New Jersey Devils, for an undisclosed price.
The Courtyard by Marriott opened its doors in 2012 and at the time was the first new hotel in four decades.
Located at 858 Broad St, the hotel is located within a five-minute drive from Newark Penn Station and a 10-minute drive from Newark Liberty International Airport.
The hotel features The Bistro restaurant, The Market 24-hour snack shop, a 24-hour fitness center with cardio equipment and free weights, a 24-hour business center and more than 4,000 square feet of meeting and event space. The hotel also operates a free shuttle to and from Newark Liberty Airport.
MCR maintains a $3-billion portfolio of 86 premium-branded hotels containing 12,000 guest rooms across 26 states and 65 cities. Founded in 2006, the firm has 3,000 team members across the country and operates hotels under 11 Marriott and Hilton brands.
