Plaza at Short Hills Plaza at Short Hills

SHORT HILLS, NJ—Cushman & Wakefield reports it has brokered leases with Blast Fitness and C2 Education at retail properties here totaling 4,800 square feet.

Boutique chain Blast Fitness has signed a 2,800-square-foot lease deal for its first New Jersey location at The Plaza at Short Hills, located at Morris Turnpike and Broad Street.

C&W also arranged a 2,000-square-foot lease for C2 Education, a national firm that provides tutoring and tutoring for standardized achievement tests, at 750 Morris Turnpike.

Retail leasing specialists David Townes and Alana Friedman, based in the commercial real estate services firm's East Rutherford, NJ office, represented the landlord in the C2 Education transaction; Gary Krauss of Pierson Commercial Real Estate served as tenant broker. Townes represented the tenant and worked directly with ownership in the Blast Fitness transaction.

“This commitment by Blast Fitness demonstrates the importance of fitness and health-related tenants in today's retail environment,” C&W's Townes says. “This chain's decision to open its first Garden State studio in Short Hills speaks to the center's enviable surrounding demographics.”

The Atlanta-based firm offers a diverse and efficient total body workout with alternating levels of strength and cardio. The new Short Hills studio is a mix of organic and industrial design, featuring a fully stocked coed locker room, a Metabolic Profile Room and studio-front parking.

C2 Education will join a tenant roster this fall at 750 Morris Turnpike that includes YB Fitness, Gym Source, Harmon Face Values, Supercuts, Panera Bread and Massage Envy, among others. The heavily trafficked center is accessible to major highways including Route 24 and I-78, and in proximity to The Mall at Short Hills. The center serves a residential population of more than 308,000 people within a five-mile radius, with a median household income of $152,000. Townes and Friedman are marketing one remaining, divisible 3,240-square-foot space at 750 Morris Turnpike, according to Cushman & Wakefield.

“750 Morris Turnpike, in the heart of one of Essex County's top-rated and most comprehensive public school systems, proved the ideal setting for expanding C2 Education's Garden State presence,” Friedman says. “We are pleased to bring this valuable educational resource to students and families here and in the surrounding communities.”
