NEW YORK – The New York Times Company has signed a lease at Court Square Place in Long Island City. JRT Realty Group has announced that the company will occupy the entire 9th, 10th and 11th floors of 57,846 rentable square feet over a 15-year term.
A LEED Gold Certified building, Court Square Place is located in Long Island City’s business district at 24-01 44th Road. Directly adjacent to the Court Square and Queensboro Plaza stations, the property has access to the 7, G, E, M, N, W and R subways and is accessible from Manhattan and Brooklyn. The new lease encompassing three full floors brings Court Square Place to 100% occupancy.
Expanding its workforce in recent years, The New York Times plans to relocate 350 employees to the space from its headquarters at 620 Eighth Avenue in Manhattan.
JRT Realty Group has managed the leasing and marketing of Court Square Plaza since it was constructed more than a decade ago. The property is owned by the United Nations Federal Credit Union (UNFCU). Greg Smith and Lauren Calandriello of JRT Realty Group represented ownership in the deal. The New York Times Company was represented by Robert Mitchell of Byrnam Wood in the transaction.
