NEW YORK – CBRE has hired Meghann Martindale as the new global head of retail research.
In this role, Martindale will conduct research on the retail sector and analyze its ongoing evolution into a consumer-directed, omnichannel marketplace. She will coordinate CBRE’s global retail research on consumer preferences, retail innovations, economic shifts and market future, through her academic insight and first-hand retail leasing experience, alongside the firm’s retail leaders. She is based out of New York City.
Martindale returns to CBRE, after working as a leasing and sales associate for the firm in San Francisco from 2001 to 2006. Considered a retail leasing expert with 19 years of retail real estate experience, she previously served as a consultant on international retail expansion strategies, asset stabilization, leasing, development and repositioning. She has worked in various leasing roles for Simon Property Group in New York, Related Urban in Los Angeles and Terranomics Retail Services in San Refael, CA. Throughout her leasing career, she has worked on projects totaling more than 15 million square feet of retail, mixed-use, restaurant, entertainment and food hall space.
Martindale holds additional academic experience, as a guest lecturer on retail real estate trends and development at New York University Schack Institute of Real Estate since 2015. She also serves as an adjunct instructor of real estate development at New York University. She is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and Urban Land Institute and was designated a Certified Leasing Specialist in 2010. She earned her B.A. from Pepperdine University.
In her new role, Martindale will report to Dr. Richard Barkham, Global Chief Economist and Head of Americas Research at CBRE. She succeeds Melina Cordero, who was promoted to Managing Director of Retail Capital Markets at CBRE in July.
