HARRISBURG, PA—Digital marketing firm WebFX, which is headquartered here, has announced it will be expanding its campus in Dauphin County. The initiative will create 63 news jobs and retain 172 full-time jobs in the area.

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf announced the company’s expansion plan late last week. WebFX received a funding proposal from the Department of Community and Economic Development for the project. The proposal includes a $250,000 Pennsylvania First grant and $126,000 in Job Creation Tax Credits to be distributed upon the creation of the new jobs.

The project was coordinated by the Governor’s Action Team, an experienced group of economic development professionals who report directly to the governor and work with businesses that are considering locating or expanding in Pennsylvania.

“WebFX is an innovative company that makes both Harrisburg and Pennsylvania proud; a forward-thinking tech firm that is creating good jobs in an emerging industry,” Gov. Wolf says. “As WebFX continues to expand its campus, its renovation efforts and increased economic activity steadily improve the community that surrounds it.”

To expand its campus and provide additional space to accommodate new employees, WebFX purchased an adjacent building located at 1714 N. 2nd St. in Harrisburg. WebFX plans to renovate and preserve the building, which was originally built as a single-family home in 1900. The renovation seeks to restore integrity to the building structure and preserve the historic exterior while converting the interior to a modern open office workspace. The renovation will add 7,470 square feet of office and conference room space to the existing WebFX campus, state officials say.

“The WebFX story is very Pennsylvania-centric. The majority of our staff has been educated at the many amazing colleges and universities in the commonwealth, and the work ethic and passion that Pennsylvanians bring to our clients from around the country has been a big competitive advantage for us,” says WebFX president William Craig. “It has been inspiring to watch Pennsylvania’s growth in the technology sector over the last several years and we are humbled by play a very small role in that.”

WebFX is a full-service internet marketing company offering innovative web marketing solutions to mid-to-large size companies across the globe. In early 2014, WebFX renovated the historic Moffitt Mansion in Harrisburg and continued to expand rapidly. WebFX also has offices in Philadelphia, Washington, DC, Dallas, Baltimore, New York City, Tampa, Boston, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Charlotte, Detroit and Orlando.

The company has won awards in both the tech and economic development sectors, including Top 50 Fastest Growing Companies in PA (2011-2018) and Business of the Year in 2012 by the Central Penn Business Journal; Technology Company of the Year in 2013 by the PA Techquest Awards Top 75 Employer in the US for Millennials; and took first place in Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania from 2015-2018.

This is the second WebFX project arranged in coordination with the Governor’s Action Team. In October 2016, WebFX received a $240,000 Pennsylvania First Program grant, $160,000 in Job Creation Tax Credits, and $68,000 in WEDnetPA funding for an expansion that created 80 new jobs.
