Thomas Weeks

NEW YORK CITY—Rockefeller Group has hired commercial real estate veteran Thomas Weeks to lead the development business nationwide as executive vice president and head of development, overseeing operations and growth initiatives, as the company manages the most development activity it's had in the pipeline over its 90-plus year history, the company revealed.

Walking through the doors of Rockefeller Group's New York City headquarters on September 30, Weeks will oversee existing and new projects with a combined valuation of $3 billion and more than 40 development professionals.

"Rockefeller Group is only scratching the surface of our potential," says the firm's president and CEO Daniel J. Moore. "We're poised to take our business to the next level and I'm confident that under Tom's leadership, we'll redefine and manifest what we're capable of as an organization."

Moore will look to Weeks to formulate and implement a development strategy that is proactive instead of reactive to increased activity in existing markets such as New York City, Washington, DC, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Arizona, California and Georgia, and in new targeted US markets, according to Moore.

Rockefeller delivered more than 12 million square feet of development and redevelopment in the last five years and has more in the pipeline. There are several US developments in planning or construction across the office, multifamily, industrial and mixed-use sectors. Recent completed developments include the redevelopment of 1271 Ave. of the Americas in Midtown Manhattan, a 48-floor building in Rockefeller Center, an estimated five million square feet of new industrial development in New Jersey and California, and Phase 1 of Flushing Commons in Queens, NY.

Previously, Weeks served as the executive general manager for Lendlease Development Inc., the northeast urban development platform for Lendlease Corp., and as president of Related Midwest from 2002 to 2007. Before Lendlease, he was a managing director at Clayco, responsible for development projects in the multifamily, office, industrial, and student housing and healthcare sectors.

Over a 25-year career, Weeks has worked across all of the real estate food groups, holding senior leadership roles with prominent development and construction firms nationwide. Weeks started his real estate career with LR Development Company in Chicago and is a graduate from Amherst College and a J.D. recipient from the University of Chicago.
