BHI Hires Rutley to Head Real Estate
Real estate veteran Doug Rutley is tasked to drive the business, team management and portfolio oversight.
NEW YORK CITY—Commercial bank BHI has appointed veteran Doug Rutley as head of real estate. The move comes ahead of its expansion to a national commercial real estate model aimed at streamlining and diversifying its commercial real estate loan portfolio.
Rutley joins BHI from Mid First Bank, where he served as managing director for Northeast originations for 14 years. Now, he will oversee BHI’s CRE loan portfolio, deposits and client base.
With more than 30 years of CRE lending experience under his belt, Rutley has financed construction, bridge and term loans for apartment, office, industrial, retail, condo, hotel and self-storage properties.
“We look forward to Douglas bringing his years of management and origination experience to BHI and are excited to have him on the team,” says Steven Caligor, BHI division executive for CRE and Healthcare, in a prepared statement statement.
In addition to assisting with the launch of BHI’s new model aimed at efficiency and portfolio diversification, over the next year, Rutley is tasked to drive the business, team management and portfolio oversight, according to Caligor.
Before Mid First Bank, Rutley served as managing director at LaSalle Bank in Chicago, launching its New York real estate office and originating New York and Philadelphia CMBS loans. He also served as a commercial real estate executive at Chase, PNC Bank and Dime Savings Bank of New York.
Rutley earned a Bachelor’s in business from the University of Richmond and completed New York University’s Real Estate Diploma program.
