NEW YORK CITY- Commercial Real Estate Women of New York will inaugurate Betty Castro, managing principal at Cushman & Wakefield Downtown Manhattan, as the organization's new president. She will assume the role in 2020 that will last three years, serving as president-elect in 2020, president in 2021, and past president in 2022. Castro will continue her responsibility as head of the Legacy Leaders Committee, and continue to work with the group's diversity and inclusion initiatives until assuming the role of president-elect in 2020 to shadow Allison Robin of Levien & Company. Castro will assume the role of president in 2021 to lead CREW New York's initiatives until 2022 when she'll hand over the throne and play past president to mentor and assist the incoming president.
"We had a lot of great nominees for the 2020 slate and Betty stood out among them," Allison Robin, current president-elect of CREW New York, said in a prepared statement. "We knew that we had to take advantage of her enthusiasm to mentor women and make meaningful connections in the real estate industry.
CREW New York offers resources for women in real estate to network and receive leadership development, which is in demand for diverse professionals striving to breakthrough in what is a historically male-dominated field.
CREW New York's nominating committee including three members of the executive board and two general members, slated Castro as President for 2021. slate was then sent to all New York members who voted to elect Castro as President-Elect. Castro has been an active member of CREW New York since 2014 and has been with Cushman & Wakefield for five years.
