WASHINGTON DC – Newmark Knight Frank has hired a team of Mid-Atlantic multifamily experts to strengthen its capital markets presence in the region.
Christine Espenshade, Robert Garrish and Shawn McDonald are joining the firm from JLL, as vice chairmen. The prominent industry producers will lead the firm's multifamily capital markets operation for the Mid-Atlantic region.
Together, the team has nearly 65 years of combined experience and collectively holds more than $45 billion in combined career multifamily-related transactions, dealing with some of the nation's largest clients.
Espenshade and Garrish specialize in multifamily investment sales and McDonald specializes in multifamily debt and structured finance.

Espenshade previously led a Mid-Atlantic-based, multifamily team of nine professionals and co-led a national multifamily platform. At JLL, she was responsible for business development, financial underwriting and representing owners in the sale and capitalization of multifamily assets in the region.
Garrish previously served as partner in JLL's Mid-Atlantic multifamily investment sales group, focusing on the sale, purchase and recapitalization of multifamily assets in the region.
McDonald has experience in structuring joint-venture equity, preferred equity, mezzanine debt, construction forward loans, and floating and fixed-rate debt for multifamily properties. He worked as part of JLL's capital markets finance group.
Newmark Knight Frank continues to expand its global multifamily presence, while focusing on the Mid-Atlantic region. The firm intends for the team to expand its footprint in the area, acknowledging the Washington DC metro as a strong multifamily market for both institutional and international capital sources.
