NEWARK, NJ—Hudson Group of East Rutherford, NJ reports it has been awarded six new duty-free stores at Newark Liberty International Airport in Terminal B.

The contract award with joint venture partners Byrd Retail Group of New York City includes more than 7,500 square feet of expanded retail space inside Newark International Airport.

Newark Dufry Shopping will feature design elements iconic to New Jersey, with inspiration from key areas including Elizabeth, N.J., the Ironbound area of Newark,  the boardwalks along more than 100 miles of coastline and agricultural touches from the Garden State's famous farmlands, Hudson Group states.

The six new stores will open by mid-year of 2020 in Terminal B at Newark International, providing an assortment of premium, duty-free cosmetics and fragrances, fashion. watches, jewelry, sunglasses, tobacco products, fine wines and spirits to one of North America's busiest commercial airports.

Hudson has extensive experience and presence in both New Jersey and New York including operations at Newark Liberty Internal Airport John F. Kennedy International Airport; LaGuardia Airport; Atlantic City International Airport and Stewart International Airport in Newburgh, NY. The firm also has operations in greater New York and New Jersey area in the Port Authority Bus Terminal, Grand Central Terminal, New York Penn Station, the United Nations Gift Centre and Empire State Building in New York City.

Roger Fordyce, CEO of Hudson Group, says that the deal expands its relationship with landlord, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

Last week, Hudson Group unveiled its first six stores at the Indianapolis International Airport, where earlier this year it was awarded a new 10-year contract. The concepts include well-known travel and luxury retail brands FAO Schwarz, Tumi, Vineyard Vines, Ink, Hudson and tailored local staple Pitstop by Hudson.

The latest expansion for Hudson Group is part of the airport's concessions refresh program, aimed at better serving the record-breaking 9.4 million passengers that visit the Indianapolis International Airport. Hudson Group will add a total of nine new stores and nearly 9,000 incremental square feet to the brand's growing portfolio. In addition, Hudson will occupy the largest retail store to date in the Indy airport, a 1,700-square-foot location in the award-winning terminal. The new stores will be operated under a joint venture agreement between Hudson Group and its ACDBE partners, Erin Humphreys of EnRoute Spa and Milan Patel of OHM Concessions Group.
