CRYSTAL CITY, VA –  JBG Smith has submitted plans to develop a mixed-use project on its acquired land at National Landing.

The current plans, submitted to Arlington County, comprise 235,000 square feet of trophy office space and 5,000 square feet of street-level retail. Located at 101 12th Street, the nine-story building will feature underground parking, open space, a new park, street-level retail, a fitness center and a ninth-floor terrace. The building is intended to serve as a gateway between Long Bridge Park and the north-end of National Landing.

The proposed project aligns with JBG Smith’s ongoing collaboration with the county and private sector partners, to build out a mix of housing, retail, office and public spaces at National Landing, the site of Amazon’s new headquarters.

JBG SMITH’s 1770 Crystal Drive and Central District Retail are currently under construction in the area, and its 1900 Crystal Drive and RiverHouse Apartments are currently moving through the entitlement process. In addition, the firm recently submitted plans for 2.6 million square feet of development for the area, last month.

Together, these projects comprise more than half of the firm’s 6.9 million-square-foot development pipeline at National Landing. Based on current plans, JBG Smith anticipates 2.2 million square feet of office space and 4.7 million square feet of multifamily space on its land.

In addition to serving as the fee developer for Amazon’s future HQ2, JBG SMITH is also serving as the master developer for the Virginia Tech Innovation Campus at National Landing.

National Landing is a newly-defined neighborhood, located across the Potomac River from Washington DC.

JBG Smith is an owner, operator and developer of mixed-use properties within the Washington DC market.
