BOSTON—Mayor Martin J. Walsh was joined by Councilor Kim Janey and members of the Boston City Council on Tuesday to formally sign "An Ordinance Establishing Equitable Regulation of the Cannabis Industry in the City of Boston."

City officials say the legislation is the first for any US city to formally prioritize diverse applicants who are looking to participate in the marijuana industry.
