Within recent years, workplaces across all industries have evolved at a rapid pace. The availabilities and amenities offered and catered to today's workforce remains a common topic throughout business' internal operations and across the media, due to the nature of today's changing workforce demands.

Companies have identified the need to alter practices in efforts to keep employees satisfied, and in turn thrive as a business. Companies have additionally found these changes to be a necessity, in order to compete for the best professionals, as new generations enter the workforce with differing requirements and values.

In order to comply, businesses continue to modify a variety of workplace components. The most apparent of which being the physical office space, as companies are increasingly devoted to offering the ideal work setting.

Continuing to sweep the nation are flex-spaces and co-working options. According to research conducted by JLL, a predicted 30% of the US office market will comprise flexible space by 2030. This major adjustment to the sector further showcases companies' commitment to alter practices for employee's demands.

In efforts to support professionals' diverse needs, work environments today offer employees access to an average of more than 23 different types of work settings. Creating an array of designated work stations, more and more companies aim to provide optimal freedom for increased productivity and revenue, which requires constant trend tracking, as incoming workforce generations differ in preferences and favor alternative environments, conducive to their work style.

Not only are organizations seeking innovative methods to occupy and activate office space, but companies have increasingly concerned themselves with employees' overall satisfaction in the business; acknowledging that when employees appreciate their company's efforts and enjoy going to work, it leads to a better position within the workforce and secures continued success.

To obtain employee loyalty, ensure proper work/life balance and emerge as an ideal place to work, organizations have become increasingly creative with their internal offerings. In addition to alternative workspace accommodations, companies are offering valuable services and experiences to employees, such as on-site food trucks, high-tech office amenities, company outings, lunchtime fitness programs, drink services, shortened summer hours, monthly subscription discounts and family-friendly environments. Furthermore, as a separate approach, companies are providing additional professional resources and social incentives to engage employees, such as educational programming, employee-growth initiatives, mentorship and advancement opportunities, tuition reimbursements and financial benefits.

Through such improved practices, businesses are leading their employees on a path for continued success, and the commercial real estate industry remains at the core of such progress.

Commercial real estate companies have not only kept up with such workplace trends, but the industry as a whole has taken a front row seat to the constant changes; developing innovative office space amenities, adapting traditional offices into flex-spaces, generating landlord/tenant communication platforms and more. As an industry that remains at the center of these modifications, its prominent players are able to analyze results and fine-tune their own sustainable models.

Acknowledging that these developments are centered significantly around employees' evolving standards, GlobeSt. Real Estate Forum is seeking the opinions of the commercial real estate workforce themselves, to determine which industry firms are finding success through their implemented practices.

In order to obtain the most detailed, tailored results, as a trusted source of insight into the commercial real estate community, GlobeSt. Real Estate Forum is once again conducting its Best Places to Work in CRE series. We will base our selections on the collected data from individual companies and their staff, to help determine which companies to feature as some of the most respectable, rewarding workplaces for employees within the industry.

The series is open to companies who operate within commercial real estate and related fields, including service providers, consultants and tech firms. Firms with broader operations, such as law firms, institutional investors, life companies and financial institutions, may also submit their real estate departments for consideration.

GlobeSt. Real Estate Forum will feature each chosen company with a profile in the June 2020 Leadership Issue. Selected companies will additionally gain recognition on GlobeSt.com.

What information/data will I need to apply?

Who may apply?

This series is open to any organization whose primary business is in the commercial real estate field, such as: CRE Services/Brokerage Lender/Debt & Equity Capital Source REIT/Public Investor-Owner Association/Educational /Nonprofit Technology Provider/Vendor Legal/Accounting/Consultant Portfolio/Strategic Management Private Investor/Owner/Developer Institution/Pension Fund/Asset Manager Property/Facilities Management Research, Analysis and Planning Architectural/Design/Engineering Construction/Development Management Other Provider of Services or Programs to CRE

Can I nominate a firm as a third party?

Yes. We accept self-nominations, as well as third-party submissions. However, please note that you will need to collect information internally from company employees.

My firm selected as a Best Place to Work last year. Can we apply again this year?

To avoid redundancy, we try to vary the winners that we profile from year to year. However, you may still submit a nomination and include updated details and information that do not mirror previous submissions.

If chosen, will negative employee feedback be published in the profile?

We are seeking the best workplaces within the commercial real estate business. As such, we will not print anything that portrays the firm in a negative light. That being said, we will include employee comments regarding a firm's potential areas of improvement, within reason, as we see fit.

How and when will winners be notified?

Editorial staff will send email notifications to the chosen firms and submitters by the beginning of March. Due to the high volume of nominations that we receive, only those selected will be notified.

When will the issue come out?

GlobeSt. Real Estate Forum will profile the CRE's Best Places to Work in the June 2020 issue, which will be distributed in June/July. Chosen companies will also gain recognition on GlobeSt.com.

Is there a fee to apply?

No. Submission to this, as well as all of our editorial content, is free.

How do I increase my chances of being selected?

Be as descriptive, yet concise as possible. Sounds redundant, but it's simple. Provide details on why you think your entry should be chosen as an Influencer, but leave out the fluff, like marketing content and self-congratulatory comments. We don't mind reading long entries, but don't hide the items of importance within pages of trivialities. Support your entry and statements with backup information—we love facts and figures—or additional files such as media coverage.
