NEW YORK CITY – Thor Equities Group, a real estate development, leasing and management firm has appointed Danny Sachnowitz, formerly of the Texas Treasury Safekeeping Trust Company, a municipal investment arm, as executive vice president of the company.
Based out of the New York office, Sachnowitz is tasked to lead the firm's growth initiatives as it diversifies its portfolio, according to COO of Thor Equities Group, Melissa Gliatta.
"Danny's strong experience in institutional investments across all asset classes makes him the ideal choice to lead Thor's Capital Markets team. As Thor continues to grow, attracting top talent is instrumental and we are thrilled to have him on board as we diversify our portfolio," said Gliatta in a prepared statement.
In Sachnowitz's previous role as deputy director and deputy chief investment officer from 2003-2019 at the Texas Treasury Safekeeping Trust Company, an estimated $60 billion government investment arm, he was responsible for medium and long-term investment strategies across all asset types, including real estate, private equity, hedge funds, and fixed income and public equity strategies.
Prior to joining the Trust Company, Sachnowitz held the position of deputy executive administrator of the Texas Permanent School Fund from 2000-2003, a $20 billion endowment benefiting K-12 public education in the state of Texas. Prior to that, he served as chief investment officer of the Office of the Comptroller's Investment Division, where he managed all investment and custody operations, and the implementation of a $3 billion endowment.
"With over twenty years of experience in multi-asset investing, Danny has built an impressive track record and he will play an influential role at Thor. We are excited to welcome him to the Thor team and believe he is the perfect candidate to execute Thor's vision," said Chairman of Thor Equities Group Joe Sitt in a prepared statement.
Sachnowitz received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Texas and an MBA from Texas State University.
