COLUMBIA, MD – Alternative lodging service provider, WhyHotel has announced plans to launch a pop-up hotel within the brand-new Juniper apartment building in Columbia, Maryland.
Specializing in operating pop-up hotels within newly-built, luxury apartment buildings, WhyHotel plans to implement 70 hotel units in Juniper, to begin welcoming guests in April.
Owned by The Howard Hughes Corporation, Juniper is located at 6000 Merriweather Drive and serves as the first apartment building within the Merriweather District; the city's newest live-work-play neighborhood.
In partnership with The Howard Hughes Corporation, WhyHotel intends to accommodate and benefit both travelers and residents in the area, by offering a 24/7 onsite hospitality staff and allowing potential permanent residents the opportunity to "try before they buy" and experience the new area's offerings.
Further driving its national expansion, WhyHotel secured a more than $20 million series B financing round in December of 2019. Headquartered in Washington DC and founded in 2017, the company currently operates three pop-up hotels in Virginia and is opening an additional Houston, Texas location in March.
In addition to its pop-up concept, the company recently created a business unit, Hospitality Living, which is dedicated to building ground-up, permanently flexible-use developments.
