NEW YORK CITY- An 1888-built townhouse on the Upper Eastside of Manhattan at 16 East 82nd St. has traded for $12.25 million. The 9,468-square-foot historic townhouse retains almost all of its original features since Edward Kilpatrick designed it centuries ago, including its elaborate façade.
"This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to acquire one of the most prestigious lots of real estate in the world," said JLL Managing Director Tom Gammino in a prepared statement. "16 East 82nd Street is prime for a single-family mansion conversion."
Located between Fifth and Madison avenues, the five-story 16 East 82nd St. sits on a block that features 21 grand historical mansions and is steps from Central Park and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The property features medical office space on the ground floor and six residential units on the upper floors. The Queen Anne-style house features a façade with foliate spandrels and panels with heads adorned with helmets, a dentilled cornice and bead-and-reel moldings.
In addition to the prominent attractions in the area, the property offers access to the Guggenheim, the Frick and the Cooper-Hewitt Museum, which are all within walking distance.
