NEW YORK—MetaProp, a PropTech venture capital firm, has hired industry leader Maureen Waters as partner.
With 20+ years of commercial real estate experience, Waters brings a unique skill set of both real estate and tech expertise to the firm. In her new position, Waters will deepen MetaProp's PropTech presence while extending their reach and in-house capabilities with strategic partners globally, the firm stated. She will also be responsible for strengthening existing community programs, which includes the MetaProp Accelerator at Columbia University, a 22-week program and financing up to $250,000 for PropTech startups, according to their website.
"Our firm is the connective tissue between the real estate industry and tomorrow's innovations," MetaProp Co-Founder and Managing Partner Aaron Block says. "Maureen Waters' vast experience on the frontlines of both technology and real estate will only strengthen the multitude of ways in which we support our growing ecosystem of startups and investors."
Waters joins the firm from Ten-X where she's worked since 2016, most recently as president. She has also served as the company's Chief Commercial Officer and Chief Marketing & Strategy Officer.
Prior to Ten-X, she was head of real estate and asset management at Bill Gates Investments. Previously, she spent 15 years at Cushman & Wakefield where she held multiple positions such as Chief Strategy Officer, Chief Marketing Office, Head of Business Development and broker.
Waters says she's looking forward to fulfilling her passions by joining the MetaProp team.
"I've spent the past decade passionately embracing innovation and technology working on the transformation of the commercial real estate industry. From workflow automation to strategic partnerships that could scale processes and businesses, I believe we are at a tipping point," Waters says. "Metaprop values data and relationships and that perfectly captures how I see the world in the future."
MetaProp, founded in 2015, is a New York-based venture capital firm focused on the PropTech industry. It has invested in 120+ technology companies and manages multiple funds for both financial and strategic real estate investors.
