JERICHO, NY – Kimco Realty Corporation is rolling out a curbside pickup program at its shopping centers, to assist tenants and their customers during the pandemic.
The company has launched the program at its retail centers in Texas, and it plans to expand the program nationally in the coming days.
The program designates curbside pickup parking spots to be used by all tenants and their customers, in effort to support businesses and customers' current shopping habits.
Kimco Realty reports that some of its national retailers have experienced a 200% increase in curbside pickup orders since the pandemic began. Through the newly implemented program, the company aims to formalize and expand the curbside pickup process, from national retailers to its local mom-and-pop shops.
For the program, the company is utilizing existing parking spaces with added signage and stenciling to indicate the designated curbside pickup spaces. The spaces are intended for use by all tenants, rather than specific retailers. Each retailer will utilize a designated curbside zone letter to direct customers and indicate which curbside zone is nearest to their store.
Within the program, Kimco Realty's tenants provide pickup instructions via their preferred online ordering app or website. The tenants may additionally verbally direct customers to the curbside spaces when they order via phone.
The program was initially rolled out at Grand Parkway Marketplace in Spring, Texas, with 60 designated parking spots.
