Health Care Conglomerate Buys Palm Beach Gardens Hospital Development Site
Universal Health Services has several existing health care facilities in South Florida, including an emergency room and behavioral centers.
Health care conglomerate Universal Health Services Inc. has bought a 32.3-acre Palm Beach Gardens land expanse where it wants to build a hospital, paying $32.7 million.
Pennsylvania-based Universal Health, through affiliate Pasteur Healthcare Properties LLC, bought the land from Heights Biotech Investments LLC’s affiliate Pasteur Commercial Investments LLC on Monday, according to a Palm Beach County deed.
The South Florida Business Journal, which first reported last month about Universal Health’s project proposal, reported that the conglomerate wants to build a seven-story hospital with 270 beds and a four-story medical office building. There are to be 1,019 parking spots.
The purchased land is from Interstate 95 east to Pasteur Boulevard, although part of it extends farther east to Alton Road. It’s just south of Donald Ross Road and a short drive north of Hood Road.
The purchase price of more than $32.67 million breaks down to over $1 million per acre.
Universal Health’s other South Florida facilities are acute care hospital Wellington Regional Medical Center, a Westlake emergency room, Palms Westside Clinic ambulatory surgery center, and behavioral health care centers in Jupiter and Fort Lauderdale.
