CBRE Names Tim Dismond to Newly-Created Chief Responsibility Officer Role
Dismond will bring together all aspects of CBRE’s Environmental, Social & Governance efforts under his leadership.
CBRE Group announced that Tim Dismond has been promoted to its newly created Chief Responsibility Officer role.
Dismond, who will retain his current responsibilities as Chief Diversity Officer, will bring together all aspects of CBRE’s Environmental, Social & Governance efforts in his new role. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Environmental Sustainability, Workplace Safety and Wellbeing, Philanthropy and Public/Government Affairs are the current ESG efforts moving under his umbrella.
Dismond will continue to report to Bob Sulentic, CBRE’s president and CEO.
“Tim has already had a tremendous impact in advancing our diversity efforts,” said Sulentic, CBRE said in prepared remarks. “His increased scope and authority, and higher profile inside and outside CBRE, will put him in an even more powerful position to drive compelling diversity and inclusion outcomes, as well as accelerate our gains across the full spectrum of ESG programs. In the process, we will strengthen our company and the work we do for clients.”
Before becoming Chief Diversity Officer in June 2020, Dismond served as a division president in the CBRE’s Global Workplace Solutions Enterprise business. He is a 26-year veteran of the commercial real estate industry and holds a J.D. from the Indiana University School of Law and a B.A. from the University of Michigan.
CBRE has received recognition for its approach to diversity and inclusion.
For the second year in a row, the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index CBRE recognized CBRE’s efforts to advance women employees. The Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index recognized CBRE for the eighth consecutive year. In November 2020, the company was the only commercial real estate services company named to the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index. It was recognized for the second consecutive year.
Other firms have also made moves to address diversity and inclusion.
JLL has appointed industry veteran Ingrid Jacobs to the newly-created global position of head of diversity and inclusion.
Within the new role, Jacobs will further develop the firm’s global diversity and inclusion strategy. She is now responsible for ensuring that the company attracts, hires and develops a diverse and engaged workforce.
Additionally, Jacobs will serve as the diversity and inclusion lead for the Americas region.
Jacobs will work to reinforce JLL’s commitment to a diverse and inclusive workplace. In her role, she will guide the company’s network of business resource groups and diversity councils while leading a team of diversity and inclusion professionals across the globe.
“The creation of this role demonstrates JLL’s strong commitment to a more diverse and inclusive future,” Jacobs said in a prepared statement. “I believe that everyone can contribute to driving diversity and building a culture that is authentic and inclusive, and I welcome the opportunity to facilitate meaningful change in employee representation, engagement and belonging across JLL’s entire workforce.”
