Consumers continued to report substantially divergent views of homebuying and home-selling conditions when asked if it is a good time or a bad time to buy or sell a house.
The Fannie Mae Home Purchase Sentiment Index (HPSI) reflected that and more in December, as it decreased 0.5 points to 74.2.
The percentage of respondents who say it is a good time to buy a home decreased from 29% to 26%, while the percentage who say it is a bad time to buy increased from 64% to 66%. As a result, the net share of those who say it is a good time to buy decreased 5 percentage points month over month.
