US Army and real estate veteran, Darren Blue will guide real estate solutions for federal government clients within the firm’s global workplace solutions business.
WASHINGTON D.C. – CBRE has appointed Darren Blue to lead a team that delivers US federal government services within its global workplace solutions business.
Within his new role, Blue will guide the team to deliver solutions that meet cross-government imperatives, in effort to enhance portfolio resiliency, efficiency, equity and decarbonization.
Based in Washington D.C., Blue will lead the delivery of real estate solutions for US federal government clients. He will utilize CBRE’s real estate strategy, program, project, facility and transaction management offerings in his work.
Prior to joining CBRE, Blue most recently served as regional commissioner of the Public Buildings Service for the General Service Administration national capital region, where he oversaw a portion of the US federal portfolio and steered high profile real estate developments and transactions within the Washington D.C. area.
Blue previously served as associate executive director for Real Property within the US Department of Veteran’s Affairs. He additionally served the US Army in various infantry, special operations and intelligence assignments. He continues to serve in the US Army Reserve today.
The appointment aligns with CBRE’s recent efforts to enhance its infrastructure and green energy offerings. Consistent with this mission, the firm has invested in Turner & Townsend, a program and project management company with expertise in public and private infrastructure, as well as Altus Power, a solar energy solutions provider for commercial properties.
Darcy Mackay, sector president for infrastructure and public enterprise at CBRE’s global workplace solutions, states, “Darren’s deep and diverse track record in government operations and procurement processes will greatly enhance our ability to bring the full power of CBRE to government clients seeking to strategically plan, manage capital projects and improve cross-portfolio operations.”
“We are proud to have such an accomplished military and government leader join our team to lead this integral component of our business,” says Kyle Schoppmann, CBRE mid-Atlantic region president.
