JLL Appoints New Florida Market Directors
JLL veterans, Roderick Barnes and LaShawn Bates will work to grow the Florida real estate market within their new roles.
MIAMI, FL – JLL has appointed Roderick Barnes and LaShawn Bates as Florida region market director and market director for North and Central Florida, respectively.
Within their new positions, Barnes and Bates will work to grow the dynamic Florida real estate market. Both professionals will transition from previous roles within JLL.

Most recently, Barnes served as JLL’s managing director of integrated portfolio services in New York City, where he led the firm’s efforts with multi-market/multi-service portfolio opportunities, nationally and globally. During his 34-year industry career, Barnes has served at JLL for more than a decade.
For his new role as Florida region market director, Barnes will relocate to Miami, FL. He will work with existing managing directors to drive market share across all services and strengthen the integrated portfolio services efforts across the state.
Barnes is an active member of CoreNet and in 2021, he was honored with JLL’s champion of excellence award. He earned a master’s degree in finance and investments from Adelphi University and he also holds an executive development diploma from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
With more than 25 years of industry experience and extensive capital markets expertise, Bates will assume the role of market director for North and Central Florida. JLL identified a need for focused leadership in the markets, spanning of Jacksonville, Tampa and Orlando, due to Florida’s unique real estate market dynamics and expansive geography.
During the past three years, Bates has led operations in Florida for JLL and she has played a key role in growing the firm’s revenue year-over-year.
Bates serves on the 2022 CREW Network global board of directors and she previously served as president of CREW’s Tampa Bay chapter.
