Macquarie Group Signs as Anchor Tenant for Brookfield’s Manhattan Property
The global financial services group will occupy 220,000 square feet in late 2024.
Brookfield Properties has found an anchor tenant for its fully redeveloped Class A office tower at 660 Fifth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan.
Global financial services group Macquarie Group will lease more than 220,000 square feet over six floors in the 39-story building for its Americas regional headquarters.
The firm will occupy 221,764 square feet over six floors, have a private lobby entrance on both the first and second floors and 30,000 square feet of private outdoor terraces.
JLL represented the tenant, led by a leasing team including Peter Riguardi, Frank Doyle, Joseph Messina, Steven Rotter, Cynthia Wasserberger, Jessica Berkey, William McGarry, Carlee Palmer, and Kristina Kopans.
Brookfield Properties was represented in-house by Mikael Nahmias, Hayley Shoener and PJ Massey of Brookfield Properties, as well as Bruce Mosler, Josh Kuriloff, Ethan Silverstein, John Santora, Matthias Li, Nicholas Dysenchuk, and Howard Cross of Cushman & Wakefield.
Brookfield is scheduled to this year soon complete the $400 million project that features re-cladding of the façade in thermally insulated 11×19 foot single-pane glass units, new elevators, state-of-the-art infrastructure, and oversized terraces with greenspace.
Brookfield Properties purchased the property in 2018 and intends to receive LEED Gold V4 Certification.
The investment made to re-create the property “has raised the bar for the next generation of workplace,” Mikael Nahmias, Senior Vice President, Leasing, Brookfield Properties, said in prepared remarks.
The Macquarie Group name will be featured in the top-of-building signage with occupancy expected in late 2024.
