Prologis' Net-Zero Goals 10 Years Ahead of Paris Accord Deadline
Solar generation capacity and carbon neutral construction are part of the plan.
Focusing on solar generation capacity, carbon neutral construction and net zero energy performance, logistics real estate company Prologis this week announced its commitment to achieve net zero emissions across its value chain by 2040.
That timeline puts Prologis’ commitment to net zero 10 years ahead of the target set by the Paris Accord.
Helping to advance the efforts, it has committed to partnering with external groups to drive decarbonization across the industry value chain, including sustainable building materials innovation.
The company has been carbon neutral for its scope 1 and 2 emissions since 2019. For its 2040 goal, it set interim steps, devoting 1GW of solar generation capacity (supported by storage) by 2025; achieving carbon neutral construction by 2025; and performing at net zero in operations by 2030.
Prologis also delivered a letter of commitment regarding its net zero goal to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for validation. It was the first logistics REIT with an approved SBTi emissions reduction target in 2018.
