BOMI Launches Two New CRE Designations
The specialized designations are the result of a national collaboration led by BOMA New York.
Commercial real estate professionals now have two more development opportunities at their disposal thanks to two new designations from BOMI International, the Independent Institute for Property and Facility Management Education.
The specialized designations, the PPA and FPA, are the result of a national collaboration led by BOMA New York, which offers a full curriculum of property and facility management classes to owners, managers and professional service professionals. They were championed by Bobbi McGowan, BOMA New York’s Executive Director, who said the designations allow individuals and companies to better understand their clients’ needs.
“Working daily with property and facilities managers, BOMI’s coursework provides service and product vendors the opportunity to understand the day-in-the-life of their clients, as well as a way to truly support them,” McGowan says. “I am proud to have been part of bringing these new designations to our allied members so they can receive the recognition they deserve.”
BOMI International’s other courses, certificate programs, and designations include the Real Property Administrator (RPA), Facilities Management Administrator (FMA), Systems Maintenance Administrator (SMA), Systems Maintenance Technician (SMT), and the High-Performance Sustainable Building designation program (BOMI-HP). The organization says more than 28,000 industry professionals hold one or more of its credentials.
CRE pros can earn the PPA and/or FPA by completing eight courses and passing the required examinations. BOMI says the PPA provides insight into operating a commercial building from the property managers point of view and analyzing buildings in their entirety, while the FPA educates participants about the day-in-the-life of a facilities manager, providing a baseline understanding of what constitutes productive work environments and how facility managers handle operational, safety and maintenance-related tenant issues.
Courses are available through local BOMA organizations or through online, on-demand courses.
