Essential Properties Realty Trust Helping Residents Save Energy
Upgrades and metered products could save up to 30% in costs.
PRINCETON, NJ–In the name of conserving energy and improving resident relations, locally-based Essential Properties Realty Trust revealed this week that it aims to deliver operating savings to its tenants by deploying sustainability upgrades that could potentially reduce the carbon footprint of the upgraded properties by up to 30%.
EPRT plans to invest capital in more efficient technologies and equipment upgrades that Budderfly will install and manage.
The sustainability upgrades focus on higher efficiency HVAC units with controls and monitoring and refrigeration controls and monitoring along with solar and LED lighting.
Will Generate ‘Meaningful’ Reduction
Julia Burman, EPRT’s Director of Sustainability, said in prepared remarks that the company’s goal is “to generate a meaningful reduction in the carbon footprint of our portfolio and contribute to our primary objective of maximizing shareholder value.
“We believe our actions can strengthen our tenant relationships helping them reduce their energy usage, increase their profitability through lower operating costs, and create opportunities for increased customer attraction.”
Tenants will receive an immediate reduction in their monthly utility costs and will have access to valuable data about their energy consumption, monthly savings, and carbon footprint reduction.
EPRT’s program is being done with its investment and installation of Budderfly’s Facility Smart Grid. It is EPRT’s first sustainability operations partnership.
