Jurny Announces Its Management Operating System for Hotels, Short-Term Rentals
The software targets boutique hotels and short-term rentals.
Proptech company Jurny announced what it calls Jurny MOS, which is supposed to be a management operating system that provides all the capabilities that a boutique hotel or short-term rental operation might need.
There is a common split in commercial software between all-in-one and best-of-breed solutions. The latter are regarded as the most advanced or capable systems for a specific aspect of a company’s operations, but which need to be integrated to create a full solution. The former are collections of different capabilities that don’t require often complex integration but might not offer an optimum answer to every need. The trade-off is between power and convenience and cost.
Jurny starts with its Jurny OS product, a property management system that has access control, channel management, and the guest mobile app. “Room temperature control, opening and closing doors, customer support chat, accessing check-in information, amenities, extending bookings, and even local recommendations are made available right from the app.”
The next step is Jurny MOS, which the company has positioned as an all-in-one system. The company describes the product as follows: “The Jurny MOS platform brings together all the features of a PMS [or property management system] plus AI pricing, smart access control, a noise sensor dashboard, guest verification, messaging, channel management, cleaning and maintenance, online reputation tracking, and more all-in-one system, all-in-one dashboard.”
Then there is Jurny MOS Pro, which “provides additional services including access to a team of professionals who can help manage accounting, distribution optimization, revenue management and provide 24/7 virtual front desk and inquiry support.”
The target customers of boutique and short-term properties presumably don’t have the resources to manage an in-house IT staff that could integrate different individual packages, each providing one aspect of what the business needs. The emphasis on professionals available to provide support reinforces that image.
Apparently, the company started in 2017 as a management services provider that understands “the pain and countless development hours required for operators to use and connect available solutions.”
In July, Jurny announced “bookings via the platform having exceeded $5.4 million year to date, contributing to 300% YoY growth over Q1 2021.” Additionally, it noted that more than 20,000 iOS mobile device users had downloaded the company’s app since the beginning of the year, “a 90% increase from the previous period.”
The bookings number seems to indicate a relatively small reach, which could be due to the nature of the target market. The number of iOS downloads would be not even 2,900 per month, a low figure for software downloads. There is an Android version, but the Google Play store indicates the total number of downloads to be “1K+.”
