Blackstone Company Legence Continues an Acquisitions Streak
The acquisitions are all western-based and include two engineering and one mechanical contracting firm.
Legence, a Blackstone company that has claimed to be “maximizing the efficiency of more than 1 billion square feet across 5,000+ buildings,” announced three “key” acquisitions in the Western US “to provide deep and localized expertise in decarbonizing the built environment,” according to a press release.
“These strategic acquisitions include Shadpour Consulting Engineers Inc (SC Engineers), a California-based MEP [which means mechanical, electrical, and plumbing] engineering firm focused on mission-critical customers, Trinity Process Solutions Inc (Trinity), a design-build mechanical contracting firm in Los Angeles that specializes in high purity process piping, and KLOK Group, a full-service MEP engineering solutions provider in Colorado,” the company wrote.
The acquisitions expanded Legence’s professional capabilities and allowed the acquired companies access to the parent’s “ecosystem of engineering and implementation expertise.”
In December, Legence announced the acquisition of LORD Green Strategies, a sustainability consultancy. “This deal will strengthen Legence’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) consulting and advisory services to help clients fulfill their fiduciary and investment objectives while decarbonizing their operations and asset portfolios,” the company said at the time. That acquisition resulted in Legence having “over $1.5 trillion in assets under management,” according to company claims.
SC Engineers describes itself as having been founded in 2004 and working on “energy-efficient and sustainable solutions” across “a variety of sectors, including healthcare, education, government, defense, and technology.” They work in three general areas: planning and design for new and existing buildings, total building commission, and energy conservation and sustainable design. They will give Legence “state’s mission-critical projects, a position already established by Legence’s Bay Area-based company, Therma.
Trinity Process Solutions, which is a general engineering and mechanical contractors firm, has three divisions: mechanical/utility piping, high purity process piping for the pharmaceutical and specialized gas industries, and fabrication. The company “designs and builds mechanical systems including steam, cooling and water treatment for commercial, industrial and military clients.”
KLOK Group is a “full-service consulting and design firm with full-scope expertise in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering,” as it describes itself, so another MEP firm, though with sustainable design and fire protection services in addition.
“The new partnerships reflect the growing need for high-level sustainability consulting, MEP design, and construction execution services across a range of industries, and reaffirm Legence’s aggressive growth trajectory,” the parent said.
