Elevation — an energy monitoring and control firm that had undertaken a pilot project last year with American Homes 4 Rent — announced a new product, the Curb M10 energy monitoring system. Intended for both consumer homeowners and institutional operators of single-family-rental properties, it combines "advanced communication capabilities and a simplified installation process and represents an essential addition to Elevation's proprietary line of Curb devices," according to a company press release.

The Curb M10 employs monitoring devices are built on CT clamps (current transformers) that monitor current running through cables without splicing into them through a physics process called induction. The company claims that the system enables "accurate tracking of appliance energy usage and aid homeowners and operators in lowering rising energy costs through actionable insights delivered via the Curb app, web interface and email reports."

"When deployed in a home, Curb receives energy usage data from thousands of sensors in real-time and mines this information to provide actionable insights on energy efficiency patterns and device health," the company said. "For instance, Curb M10 could predict an HVAC outage or malfunction in advance, mitigating expensive and frustrating repairs or replacements. M10 represents the latest evolution of the Curb product line and pairs years of available Curb's intelligent, actionable home energy data with new features focused on improving connectivity, reliability and ease-of-use."
