Brookfield Properties appears to have the pole position to redevelop the 2,300-acre Concord Naval Weapons Station on the Sacramento River in Northern California.
The Concord City Council has selected the developer to proceed to the interview phase for the project, which envisions building up to 12,000 homes and 6M SF of commercial space over several decades.
Brookfield would be the third contender to take a swing at becoming the master developer for the former US Navy depot. Going back to 2021, two other deals for the massive project have fallen apart.
