C.J. Segerstrom & Sons and Hines are planning to build an urban retail village across the street from Segerstrom's South Coast Plaza mall in Santa Ana.
Costa Mesa-based Segerstrom is redeveloping the South Coast Plaza Village shopping center, a 17-acre property that Sederstrom also owns, located at 1621 Sunflower Avenue.
According to a report in the Orange County Business Journal, Segerstrom and Houston-based Hines will be replacing the 100K SF shopping center with a 1.9M SF development that will include 1,583 homes, up to 300K SF of office space and 80K SF of shops and restaurants.
