CBRE announced a strategic partnership with carbon accounting software provider Emitwise to collect greenhouse gas emissions data from its supply chain and provide carbon accounting capabilities to its suppliers..

As part of the partnership, CBRE will make a strategic investment in Emitwise, but the firm did not specify the amount.

The form of the notification is of particular interest as it comes from CBRE itself and not from the vendor, a more usual form of marketing. It suggests the topic is of particular interest to the larger corporation. ESG, whether considered all together or focused just on environmental factors such as greenhouse gas and carbon footprint reductions, has become an increasingly important consideration for many investors and tenants.
