Minneapolis Most Searched Market for Fourth Month in a Row
One southern city is hot on its heels, jumping 134 places to take 7th in RentCafe's latest rankings.
MINNEAPOLIS–Apartment searchers don’t seem to mind the cold winter temperatures in Minneapolis. In fact, the City of Lakes has become something of a “hot spot” for renters looking for their next home, taking the top spot on Yardi’s RentCafe ranking for the fourth consecutive month.
Traffic in March more than tripled from last year, along with a 159% increase in saved searches. The market also saw a 216% surge in page views.
The West was the overall favorite region for online apartment search traffic, according to RentCafe, claiming the most spots (13) in the top 30 rankings.
Nonetheless, rising to No. 2 for March was Overland Park, KS, with a 282% surge in page views. Atlanta held that spot the previous month, and Queens came in at No. 4.
Heading the West Coast contingent is Tacoma, WA (6); Chandler, AZ (12); North Las Vegas (14); and Sacramento (16).
The South claimed eight entries on the top 30 list with Atlanta (3); Washington, DC (8); and Orlando (9). The biggest mover was Montgomery, AL, which jumped 134 places to No. 7, while Birmingham, AL, jumped 58 positions to debut in the top 30 at No. 26.
Atlanta, in particular, continues to garner interest from renters from Miami, New York and Chicago.
