The 10 wealthiest suburbs in America have average annual household incomes of between $367,000 and $570,000, with typical home prices in these markets ranging from $1.1 million to $4.5 million.

Of the nation's 50 wealthiest suburbs, 42 are situated on the coasts, with the East Coast home to 23 wealthy suburbs and the West Coast home to 19 wealthy suburbs. Plus, 16 of the richest suburbs are in California, five are in New York and five are in New Jersey.

The ranking from GOBankingRates is based on a study of every city with at least 5,000 households that rank in the top 50 by average household income. The firm notes many wealthy Americans have been moving away from notoriously wealthy cities like New York City, Los Angeles and Miami in favor of quiet and secluded suburbs.
