Some markets in the country are more expensive than others and the bright lights of New York rank near the top of the list for homes.
It comes from RealtyHop's third annual report, which looked at 100 of the most expensive areas in the country. It found that New York City in 2024 costs $950 per square foot. So to build a $400,000 property in the area, you would only be allowed 421 square feet.
But still, it's not the most pricey, as San Fransisco tops RealtyHop's list. Buyers there only get 417 square feet for $400,000.
