Atlanta Housing Board Approves Financing for 1,039 New Housing Units

The Atlanta Housing (AH) Board of Commissioners has approved a series of resolutions aimed at financing and constructing 1,039 new housing units in the city. Of these new units, 903 will be designated as affordable, while 140 existing affordable units will be preserved. The board’s decision is part of a broader effort to address Atlanta’s critical affordable housing needs.

To support the construction and preservation of these units, AH will be making a significant investment of approximately $105 million. The total development cost for the new units is estimated to be around $326 million. The board’s approval is seen as a key step in AH’s ongoing efforts to create safe and quality housing options for those in need.

In addition to the new construction, the board’s decision also includes the preservation of 140 affordable housing units. This is part of AH’s larger strategy to not only create new units, but also to protect and maintain the affordability of existing housing.
