How Big is the Leap to WiFi 7?

Residential property owners may find WiFi 7 is outpacing technology expectations, leaving WiFi woes behind.

As bandwidth demands continue to rise, so too are technological advances that are reaching beyond our expectations. To learn more about cutting-edge equipment hitting the market, we spoke with Susan Chandler, senior manager for product management with Quantum Fiber.

“One of the greatest advantages multifamily owners will see from WiFi 7 is the reduced need for mesh or extended WiFi coverage in dead spots”, said Chandler. “This advanced WiFi equipment is ahead of its time and can help preserve high resident satisfaction with a promising, long lifespan to keep up with IoT, gaming, and computing needs.”

More reasons why WiFi 7 is an industry game changer

One WiFi device can provide complete coverage for more than 90% of existing homes, dramatically reducing the need to buy and install additional mesh pods. This equipment can be installed in outdoor common areas as well.

WiFi 7 offers a seamless way to connect homes or units to high-speed fiber internet with superior coverage compared to WiFi 6. Ultra-fast speeds are now achievable without an Ethernet cord, thanks to multi-gig WiFi capabilities. Up to 8 Gbps (gigabits per second) is 25 times faster than the average advertised download speeds in the United States.* The device boasts latency of less than 3 milliseconds and integrates seamlessly with the Quantum Fiber multi-gig XGS-PON network.

“It’s crucial for residential developers and property owners to select future-proof fiber internet for their properties, ensuring they can provide an amenity that not only meets today’s technology needs but also adapts to the evolving demands of the future,” said Chandler.

Residents will find WiFi 7 user-friendly due to its ability to handle multiple frequencies, supporting a vast ecosystem of compatible devices, including laptops, TVs, smart sensors, IoT gadgets, and more. Its backward compatibility with previous WiFi generations can save significant costs by eliminating the need for the latest devices.

In densely populated areas, WiFi 7 minimizes interference from neighbors’ older routers. It offers advanced device detection to reduce bandwidth congestion and provides significantly more channels than WiFi 6.

“We’re excited to bring this latest iteration of WiFi technology to the market,” said Chandler. “WiFi 7 represents our goal to deliver the best fiber internet experience.”
