There have been challenges in the last year with commercial real estate’s beloved multifamily asset class — a category that traditionally has performed well and maintained solid fundamentals. Rents have been slipping and like other asset classes, some owners have struggled with eroding valuations and surging debt costs. Navigating this terrain has not been easy for the men, women, teams and companies profiled on the following pages but they still were able to perform admirably in difficult conditions.
