A developer under the entity Westshore Views LLC is looking to revitalize, in part, an automobile storage site in Gravesend, Brooklyn and include the space in a mixed-use development.
The filing plans with New York City's Department of City Planning call for residential, community and retail space, according to a report from the New York Business Journal. In total, the project would span 1.6 million square feet.
The redevelopment would feature four residential towers and 24 two-story townhomes that range up to 450 square feet. Also included are 1,457 dwelling units, with 364 or 437 units getting set aside as affordable.

Other segments of the plan feature medical office space, 10,500 square feet of retail, a 528-seat school, a marina, a 75,000 square foot public access area and 1430,000 square feet of open public space. There's also the possibility that the school could be used for more residential space if the plans for it get scrapped, according to the NYBJ.
Additionally, Westshore wants to develop 753 bicycle spaces, 994 spaces for accessory parking, as well as climate-friendly
Part of the plans would redevelop the 4302 Westshore Ave site, currently leased out for auto storage. As it looks for city map changes, the development forecasts to take place near a Coastal Erosion Hazard Area or a Tidal Wetland area. However, none would be located directly in those two areas, according to NYBJ.
Recently, the New York City Council approved Mayor Eric Adams' massive Brooklyn mixed-use plan that includes approximately 4,600 homes, with 1,900, or about 41 percent, set aside for moderate- and lower-income residents. Other portions of the project include 800,000 square feet of ground-floor retail, commercial space, community facilities and manufacturing businesses. Importantly, the development is forecasted to stimulate private investment, according to Kathryn Wylde, president and CEO of Partnership for New York City.
