BETHESDA, MD–The Lindley, an 11-story luxury apartment building in Chevy Chase that its developer EYA says is one of the first large scale development projects linked to the Purple Line, recently held a construction topping out party.
The 200-unit Lindley will be next to the Purple Line's Connecticut Ave. light rail station, which is opening in 2022. It will be the western anchor of a new 4.5-acre EYA neighborhood along Chevy Chase Lake Drive. The community includes The Brownstones at Chevy Lake, where EYA has sold 35% of 62 elevator townhomes.
Pre-leasing for The Lindley begins June 2018 and first move-ins are expected three months later in September. Meanwhile, new retail shops and restaurants will be coming online next door, where The Chevy Chase Land Co. anticipates breaking ground on a nearly 800,000-square- foot redevelopment next year.
Much of the real estate focus around the Purple Line has been on related office development, but clearly there will also be a push to develop housing near the 21 stations that will make up the Purple Line. For instance one of the tenants of the Purple Line Corridor Coalition, which launched last month, is to develop housing opportunities for all income levels.
