WOODBRIDGE, NJ-Gilbert Home Delivery Corp. has acquired the 40,000-sf warehouse/distribution facility on George Avenue that it has been leasing for the past year. Kenneth Crimmins and Tom Monahan of The Blau & Berg Co., real estate agents based in Springfield, NJ, arranged both the sale and the earlier lease transaction. The seller of the property and the terms of the sale were not announced.

According to Gilbert officials, the decision to buy the facility was fueled by the company's need to handle an increasing volume of business. With the dearth of warehouse space in the market, the company had leased the space on a short-term basis with an option to buy based on market requirements and price.

The facility is located on eight acres near the confluence of the New Jersey Turnpike, the Garden State Parkway, and US Routes 1 and 9. Headquartered in Linden, NJ, the five-year-old Gilbert Home Delivery specializes in Internet- and catalog-ordered goods. Its customers include The Sharper Image, Eddie Bauer, Crate & Barrel, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale's By Mail, Furniture.com and others.
