MANHATTAN, KN-The Village Plaza shopping center in this college town has been sold by Glimcher Realty Trust as a part of the company's stragegy to unload more than $44 million of what it deemed non-stategic assets. Terms of the sale were not disclosed, but it was reported that the sale, along with the sale of a single outparcel, brought proceeds of about $2.9 million.
Columbus, OH-based Glimcher sold the 55,700-sf property to Heritage Property Investment Trust of Chicago. The anchor of the shopping center is a Falley's Food 4 Less, which is expected to remain.
“We are pleased that we were able to execute a number of transactions during 2000 consistent with our primary objective of reducing our inventory in single-tenant assets and community centers, to better focus this period on geographic regions where Glimcher has a higher concentration of properties,” said President Michael P. Glimcher.
