ANN ARBOR, MI-Two senior citizen condominium complexes have opened here. University Commons is made up of 92 senior condominium homes on 18 acres along Huron Parkway in Ann Arbor, north of Huron High School.

The complex was turned down for construction by the college's board of regents, which sold the land in 1996 to a UM alumni group. The group partnered with Blue Hill Development of Ann Arbor to build the complex.

Housing choices include the Williams Townhome and Whiting Villa residences in addition to apartment style units in the Woodbridge Residences. The Houghton Hall Commons Building contains more than 17,000 sf of space to provide opportunities for resident learning and interaction.

Another complex, an assisted-living building University Living built onSouth Main Street, has opened with 75 units. While not built by UM, seniors at the 75-unit complex will participate in aging research with the college. Students will spend time at the facility to complete research on aging.
