The building is the second facility at Murray Corporate Center, which is situated in the Route 202-206 corridor in Somerset County, in the central part of the state. Branchburg I has served as the corporate headquarters for the Lifecell Corp., a bioengineering company, for the past three years.
Altogether, Murray Corporate Center totals some 72 acres. The Branchburg II building is expected to be ready for occupancy by next spring, according to Jeffrey J. Siegel, senior vice president for Murray Construction.
"This is one of the ripest areas in the state right now," according to Siegel. "A number of Fortune 500 companies have established offices here over the years. It's a good spot for firms that want to be in a highly corporate area in a suburban surrounding. Our first building, Branchburg I, was leased quickly and the new building is already drawing attention."
Designed by architect James Weill & Associates of Millburn, NJ, Branchburg II will be a full-brick building. Among other things, it will include a 30-foot clear ceiling height and advanced energy-efficient features.
The 40-year-old Murray Construction Co. has a number of other major projects around the state, including the one million-sf Centennial Corporate Park in Piscataway, NJ; Murray Industrial Park in Franklin Twp., NJ; Murray Officenter in Piscataway; 100 Readington Rd. in Branchburg; Quakerbridge Executive Center in Lawrence Twp.; 33 Bleecker St.; Liberty Corner Executive Center in Bernards Twp.; Northfield Officenter in West Orange, NY; and Southview Plaza in Westfield, NJ.
