Linthicum Construction, a Scottsdale contractor specializing in health-care facilities, is working under a 180-day fast-track schedule. Phoenix-based Orcutt Winslow designed the changes to the complex.
Because the building remained open during construction, special precautions were taken, particularly in high-security areas such as the psychiatric ward, where crews upgraded padded lock-down cells, seclusion rooms and patient areas. Work also involved the administrative offices and the Superior Court section of the building.
Linthicum's health-care portfolio includes Page Hospital in Page, AZ, in a teaming with Orcutt Winslow as well as sixth- and seventh-floor additions to the Valley Lutheran Hospital. It also has completed projects at Valley Lutheran Women's Hospital and Lutheran Heart Hospital.
