The vote was a unanimous one and called for a revision of the county's land-use plan to accommodate the project. Commissioners also agreed to require the developers to ante up about $5 million for necessary transit improvements in the vicinity, including the addition of extra lanes to accommodate the greatly increased traffic load to be brought in by the new development.

Prior to making it to the County Commission's desk, the project circulated among members of the Pasco County Development Review committee for nearly two years. There are still local government offices that must sign off on the project so there is no scheduled date for construction to begin. The estimated price of the development has not yet been released. This development is just one of many that are expected to sprout up along the new SR 56, which offers anywhere from four to six lanes.

Before the construction of the highway, which was a three-year endeavor, the area was and still is home to hundreds of acres of undeveloped property. Wesley Chapel sits between Tampa and Tarpon Springs, and is part of the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, Florida metro area.
