Last month, the Texas-based retailer opened its first store in the state of Connecticut at 595 Connecticut Ave. That store totals 11,510 sf of space.

The new store in Scarsdale offers signature golf product related services. William B. Hesse and Martin Deitch of Aries Deitch & Endelson of Hartsdale represented the building owner, Ginsburg Development Corp. of Hawthorne, NY in the transaction. Brian Schuster of Ripco Real Estate of Jericho, Long Island coordinated lease negotiations on behalf of Golfsmith.

Hesse, president of Aries Deitch & Endelson, said his firm had worked in tangent with Ripco over the past several years in order to find the ideal suburban site for Golfsmith's entry into the New York market.

The 15-year lease deal has an aggregate value of more than $5.5 million, according to Aries Deitch & Endelson officials.

"Our goal was to position Golfsmith in a location that could combine prime visibility with a strong trade market, affluent customer base and compelling demographics," Hesse explains. "Golfsmith's new Scarsdale store meets these goals to a tee."

With its new location, Golfsmith now operates 28 retail locations in the United States and Canada.

Golfsmith VP Ken Brugh, states that the New York market is a major component in the company's expansion plans.

"At Golfsmith, we are in the midst of one of our most exciting periods of retail growth and expansion," Brugh says, "and we recognized that Westchester, a location synonymous with golf, was key to building a major presence in this dynamic market."

Golfsmith designs and markets custom-fit golf clubs and components under its proprietary brands. In addition to its retail superstores, the company distributes the Golfsmith Accessories and Clubmaker Catalogs and runs an online store at golfsmith.com.
