Hotel Trio

HEALDSBURG, CA—Construction is underway on Hotel Trio, a 122-room hotel in the heart of Sonoma County's wine region. It will connect the Dry Creek, Russian River and Alexander wine valleys, giving it the “Trio” moniker.

The 82,638-square-foot hotel will be located at 110 Dry Creek Rd., with an expected completion in April 2018. The 122 guest rooms include 13 one bedrooms and 109 studios.

Within walking distance of town and a host of local wineries, the hotel will also offer on-site bicycle rentals to provide convenient access to the hundreds of wineries within a 30-mile radius. Amenities will include a bar, meeting room, outdoor pool, barbecue area, lounge, fully equipped fitness center and multiple outdoor patios with fireplaces.

R.D. Olson Construction is the general contractor. Its Northern California partners on the project include Axis/GFA Architecture + Design, ZFA Structural Engineers, CSW/Stuber-Stroeh Engineering Group Inc. and Tuan and Robinson Engineering.

“We are happy to expand our hospitality repertoire with this ground-up project in California's wine country,” said Matt Grubb, R.D. Olson Construction vice president of construction.

Construction challenges include finding quality subcontractors in a somewhat remote area when subcontractors are already in high demand throughout the state, and in some cases longer lead times to get materials to the area, GlobeSt.com learns.

R.D. Olson Construction's other hospitality projects in the area include Hotel Monaco in San Francisco as well as the Hyatt Place, Courtyard Marriott and Riverside Country Club in San Jose. The company has also completed many restaurant projects in Northern California, including Morton's Steakhouse, Pasqua's Coffee Bar and Palomino restaurant.

The contracting firm is also working with CU Investors on this and three additional projects, including AC Hotel in Irvine and H Hotel in Los Angeles.

The 122-room hotel provides a cost-effective option for visitors who are looking to be in a prime walkable location without the very high price tag that is often associated with Healdsburg, GlobeSt.com learns.
